~~Ongoing Project in the Milan Community ~~
Christmas is bright at the Milan Senior Center

Gifts to the Center are commemorated on the Christmas tree each year.
Each year the Milan Center administrator writes an article and letters to tell their community how many meals the center serves, how much funding they receive from the federal and state government and how much money must be raised at the local level. She simply asks others to 'Please remember the Senior Center at Christmastime.' She started this in another city back in 1989 when she was the senior center administrator there and continued it in Milan when she became the administrator there.
It is very commendable that they have benefactors who annually donate to the center in appreciation for the service they provide for family members. Social media even had a part in their fundraising efforts, as one community member suggested through Facebook that other people support their local senior centers too.
Other family members of those who receive home delivered meals and services from the Center have also made donations to help the programs.
Generous giving to benefit others is truly inspiring.
